Connaissances actuelles sur les besoins et recommandations nutritionnelles pour les dromadaires

Richard D.

Knowledge on the breeding of the dromedaries and on their production of meat, of milk or the performances of the animals of work is practically non-existent. Their needs could be deduced from the general standards established for the mammals. The needs for the growth cannot be established because the evolution of the body composition is not known. The results of the nutritional tests are very rare. Only some chemical analyses of the meat were deferred. Several publications described milk composition of dromedary and it is possible to consider its average energy and nitrogenous value. In what concerns the results of work, there do not exist studies on total energy, nitrogenous consumption, or the modes to be brought. Being given the current state of knowledge, the recommendations can be drawn only from the other species, and should be considered with prudence.
