Status of aquaculture in Italy (1998)

The data reported in this article describes aquaculture production in Italy with particular regard to: evolution of mussel, freshwater and marine fish production over the period 1983-1997; farmed species and applied technology; fingerling production and emerging hatchery technology; new finfish species candidate for aquaculture diversification. Strategies and constraints for the future development of aquaculture are also summarised.
