Dans la zone côtière méditerranéenne, qui connaît une pénurie d'eau douce, le projet WADI vise à encourager l'exploitation durable et rationnelle des ressources en eau douce à travers une approche participative. Afin d'atteindre cet objectif, un certain nombre d'études de cas à travers la Méditerranée ont été sélectionnés pour être évalués et analysés. Chaque étude de cas a été abordée selon une approche holistique et traitée sur une base scientifique. Le rôle spécifique des femmes, en tant qu'utilisateurs finals de l'eau a fait l'objet d'une attention particulière ainsi que leur participation à la diffusion locale du projet.
