L'article tente d'expliquer quelles sont les dynamiques qui animent un territoire de forte tradition viticole comme la wilaya d’Ain Témouchent (Algérie), en identifiant les problèmes rencontrés par les producteurs locaux face à l'ouverture de l'économie algérienne vers les marchés globalisés et en analysant la façon dont ces problèmes peuvent être résolus par la prise en compte des propres ressources du territoire et par l'incorporation de nouveaux mécanismes de coordination entre les acteurs. La recherche décrite dans cet article, prétend avancer vers la concrétisation d'une «alternative» pour mettre en place des stratégies de développement durable en appliquant la perspective des systèmes agroalimentaires localisés (SYAL). En particulier, elle souhaite mettre en évidence l'utilité de ce concept en tant que base d'une nouvelle voie pour faire face à l'ouverture des marchés et contribuer au processus de développement rural en mettant en relation l’agro-industrie rural, le territoire et l'action collective. Partant de cette approche, on analyse si l’activité vitivinicole à Ain Témouchent répond aux caractéristiques nécessaires pour être définie comme un système agroalimentaire local, puis on identifie les domaines critiques à travailler pour promouvoir son développement.

The article addresses the dynamics of a territory with a strong wine growing tradition as in Ain Temouchent wilaya (Algeria) by identifying the problems faced by producers with the opening of the Algerian economy to global markets and by analysing the way in which these problems can be solved by taking the resources of the territory into account and by incorporating new coordination mechanisms between stakeholders. The research described is aimed at approaching the concretisation of an 'alternative' for establishing sustainable development strategies by applying the perspective of local agrifood systems. It is aimed in particular at demonstrating the usefulness of the concept as the basis for a new pathway to face the opening of markets and to contribute to the rural development process by linking rural agro-industry, territory and collective action. This approach is used to analyse whether wine growing and production at Ain Temouchent possess the features required to be defined as a local agrifood system. This is followed by the identification of the critical fields to be addressed in order to promote its development.
