Digestive secretions in camels

This paper briefly reviews what is known of the digestive secretions of camels in relation to nutrition and environment. Both old world camels, the dromedary (Camelus dromedarius) and Bactrian camel (C. bactrianus) and new world camels, the llama (Lama glarna), guanaco (L. guanicoe), alpaca (L. pacos) and vicuna (Vicugna vicugna), are considered as much of the work on digestive physiology has been conducted on the latter group.
