A study of the production costs of two pomegranate varieties grown in poor quality soils

Costa Y., Melgarejo P.

This study analyses the production costs in the cultivation of two pomegranate varieties typical of SE Spain (Valenciana and Mollar de Elche) in the Province of Alicante under very poor conditions. The results suggest that the pomegranate can be a viable crop in such conditions and that profitability can be substantially increased in more favourable conditions. The results also point to the greater productivity and profitability of Mollar de Elche variety.
