AB - This chapter presents Medbasin, a Mediterranean daily-monthly rainfall-runoff model and software with a Windows interface and additional tools. It is based on an old model produced by FAO for the Mediterranean Island environment and called MERO. Medbasin is a modern computer package, recently produced in the framework of Medroplan project. It includes (i) REDIM, an user friendly software, which allows to perform drought analysis on hydrological series both at a site and over a region, (ii) SIMDRO (SIMulation of water supply systems under DROught conditions), a software package specifically oriented at simulating complex water supply system with particular reference to the implementation of mitigation measures against drought impacts, (iii) DrinC software for the calculation of drought indices, (iv) WEAP21 (Water Evaluation and Planning) version 21 presents a user-friendly, geographically based interface helping the user to understand the hydrological system of the basin. Medbasin also includes agricultural models which can be useful in the context of drought risk analysis in agricultural systems. UR - http://om.ciheam.org/om/pdf/b58/00800539.pdf ER -
