La gestión de la fauna en el Parque de Collserola (Barcelona)

Llimona F.

Current wildlife resource management activities being developed at the Metropolitan Park of Barcelona are presented. These include research, improvement and public education. Research activities focus on bird density studies. In springtime birds are good indicators of environmental conditions in the park because of its sensitivity to changing vegetation structure. In wintertime they provide useful information about the trophic carrying capacity of the different environments. Results concerning the bird community structure for different environments and seasons are discussed in terms of density, richness, diversity and guild distribution. Management's activities for wildlife Improvement are directed towards hunting regulation and provision of nesting and roosting boxes for birds and mammals in precarious conditions. Finally public education activities are promoted through the use of feeding stations for selected species.
