Notes sur quelques espèces fruitières sous-utilisées au Portugal (néflier japonais, figuier, kaki et grenadier)

Sousa R.M. de, Gomes Pereira J.

In Portugal, loquat culture occupies 443 ha producing 1300 MT. It is a promising species especially in the south part of the country. Fig culture occupies 9600 ha producing about 12000 MT. Fresh fig production is increasing and represents a promising speculation. Persimmon is present as scattered trees mainly in the north part of Portugal. Local market potentialities are limited. Pomegranate culture is localized mainly in the south regions and has to be well developed. For all the species cited, it is necessary to improve plant material and marketing techniques.
