L'élevage caprin pastoral traditionnel de l'Entre Douro e Minho est très peu artificialisé et son principal produit, les chevreaux, transmet une image attractive. En tenant compte des enjeux de territoire et de filière, un projet visant la conversion des exploitations d'une zone de montagne en mode de production biologique a été développé depuis 2004. Pour répondre aux préoccupations des éleveurs et de l'Association de Producteurs Biologiques, une étude a été mise en place pour analyser l'évolution des résultats technico-économiques dans 11 élevages caprins allaitants. Dans ce cadre, une enquête adaptée aux particularités de ces systèmes a été menée sur le terrain. Les subventions sont déterminantes pour la viabilité économique de la majorité des élevages. La durabilité de ces systèmes dépend de la possibilité d'adapter des stratégies collectives d'organisation de cette filière.

The pastoral goat production in Entre Douro e Minho has very low inputs and its main product, kids, is very attractive to the consumers. Taking in account the issues of the territory and sector, a project that intends to convert into organic farming systems the goat farms located in a mountainous region was developed since 2004. In order to respond to the farmers and Association of Organic Producers concerns, we set up a study to assess the evolution of the technical and economical results in 11 goat farms. To achieve theses goals, we have set up a specific inquiry. The economic aids are very important to the viability of these farms. The sustainability of these goat farming systems depends on the possibility to adapt collective strategies of the organisation of the goat sector.
