Lamaddalena N., D'Arcangelo G., Billi A., Todorovic M., Hamdy A., Bogliotti C., Quarto A.

This work presents the case of study carried out on the Consortium of 'Bonifica della Capitanata' (Southern Italy), which is one of the greatest and most important Irrigation Consortium in the Mediterranean region. The study of Capitanata is extremely interesting not only for technical reasons and adopted water saving practices but also because it represents a good example of participatory organization and management of a broad and important area. The Consortium has been analyzed from organizational, operational and technical point of view, with a particular attention to water saving strategies and pricing and financing instruments.
